Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team. As a Substance Abuse Counselor, you will play a vital role in providing support and guidance to individuals struggling with substance abuse issues. Your expertise and compassion will help clients on their journey to recovery.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments and evaluations to determine the appropriate treatment plan for each client
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions to address substance abuse issues
- Develop personalized treatment plans based on the unique needs of each client
- Utilize evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy and behavioral therapy to facilitate positive change
- Assist clients in developing coping skills and strategies to maintain sobriety
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for clients
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records of client progress and treatment plans
- Stay informed about current research and trends in substance abuse treatment
- Planning and conducting programs to combat social difficulties, prevent substance abuse, or improve counseling and health
- Referring patients, clients, or families to community resources available for treatment or housing
- Supervising and directing other workers providing services to patients
- Ensure agency compliance with all relevant laws, licensure regulations and program policies
Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, or related field
- Certification or licensure as a Substance Abuse Counselor (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology related to substance abuse
- Experience in behavioral health or clinical counseling settings
- Familiarity with cognitive behavioral therapy and group therapy techniques
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to provide compassionate care while maintaining professional boundaries
